Announcing Inside.java

Today, as part of the Moved by Java campaign, we’re thrilled to announce Inside.java.

There’s an expression in American slang called “Inside baseball”. It dates back to the 1890s. The original meaning appears to have referred to a particular style of play which relied on the less flashier tactics such as bunts and stealing bases, rather than on flashier tactics, such as home runs.

Today the expression generally means an interest in all the details of a particular subject above and beyond what most people know.

And that’s really what Inside.java is all about. It’s a content aggregator featuring blog posts, notable mailing list entries, conference talks, and more, produced by the folks that are working on Java at Oracle.

The overall goal is to connect deeper with the community by creating a place to learn about both Java and the people that build it. It is not a replacement for https://openjdk.java.net, the place to collaborate on an open-source implementation of the Java Platform, Standard Edition, and related projects.

Ultimately it’s about everyone in the community becoming a Java insider.

We believe the content is simply organized and cleanly presented, as you’ve come to expect where content is the focus, not the flashy homerun design.

Please note that this site is in beta. We welcome your feedback! You can reach the team that built it at java_devrel_grp@oracle.com.
